Car Maintenance & Tune-Ups in Harahan, LA

Keeping up with maintenance is the cheapest way to own a car. We'll tell you what's actually due at your mileage, and we'll handle the tires while we're at it.

We go by your car's schedule

Your manufacturer already decided what your car needs and when. It's in the owner's manual (or the manufacturer's app), listed by mileage and time. We use that, along with what we see on the car, to tell you what's due now and what can wait.

Look for the "severe service" schedule while you're in there. Short trips, stop-and-go traffic, hot weather and towing usually count as severe. Plenty of driving around Harahan, Elmwood and River Ridge fits, so some items may be due sooner than the normal schedule.

What a maintenance visit can include

  • Oil and filter change
  • Tire rotation, tread check and air pressure (see tires)
  • An alignment check if the tires are wearing unevenly (see wheel alignment)
  • Engine air filter and cabin air filter
  • Spark plugs and ignition parts, often what people mean by a tune-up
  • Coolant flush (see cooling system repair)
  • Brake fluid and a look at pads and rotors (see brakes)
  • Transmission fluid service (drain and refill)
  • Drive belts, hoses and timing belt replacement when your engine is due
  • Fuel system service and battery testing

About "tune-ups"

On older cars, a tune-up meant adjusting a lot of things by hand. Newer cars adjust themselves. What's left is replacing wear items on schedule: mostly spark plugs and filters. If your car runs rough, hesitates or the check engine light is on, it needs a diagnosis first. See check engine light diagnostics.

Timing belts

If your engine has a timing belt instead of a chain, the manual gives a replacement interval in miles and years. On many engines, a belt that breaks while driving causes serious engine damage. Call us with your year, make, model and engine and we'll tell you which one you have and when it's due.

How it works here

Tell us the mileage and what was done last, or bring your receipts. We look it over and give you a free written estimate. Nothing extra gets done without your OK. Drop the car off before work in the after-hours key drop if that's easier.

We're at 6229 Jefferson Hwy in Harahan, near Hickory Ave. Open Monday–Thursday 7:30 AM–5:00 PM and Friday 7:30 AM–4:00 PM. Directions and drive times.

Questions we get

Will getting maintenance here void my factory warranty?

No. Under federal law, a manufacturer can't void your warranty just because maintenance was done by an independent shop. Keep your receipts and stick to the schedule.

How often should I rotate my tires?

Check your owner's manual. Many cars call for it about every other oil change. It's easy to do both at the same visit.
