Brake Repair in Harahan

Squealing, grinding, shaking or a pedal that feels soft? Bring it to our shop on Jefferson Hwy. We'll tell you what's worn, what needs to be done now and what can wait.

What your brakes are telling you

  • Squeal when you stop: most pads have a wear indicator that squeals when they're getting thin.
  • Grinding: usually metal on metal. Get it in soon before it damages the rotors.
  • Shaking in the wheel or pedal: often rotors that are worn or uneven.
  • Pulling to one side: a sticking caliper or a problem with a hose.
  • Soft or sinking pedal: could be air or a leak in the system. This one needs attention right away.
  • Brake or ABS warning light: we scan and test the system.

What we check

We look at the whole system: pads, rotors, calipers and slide pins, brake hoses and lines, and the brake fluid. If a warning light is on, we scan for codes and test the part it points to. Then we go over what we found with you and let you decide what to do.

Trucks, SUVs and work vehicles

Heavier vehicles and anything that tows go through brakes faster. We do brake work on cars, trucks and SUVs, foreign and domestic.

When not to drive it

If the pedal goes to the floor or the car isn't stopping the way it should, don't drive it in. Have it towed to 6229 Jefferson Hwy and call us at (504) 737-4096 so we know it's coming.

Otherwise, book online or give us a call. We're right on Jefferson Hwy in Harahan, close to River Ridge, Elmwood and Jefferson.

Questions we get

How long do brake pads last?

It depends on how and where you drive. Stop-and-go traffic and heavy loads wear them faster. We'll measure what you have left and tell you where you stand.

Do I always need new rotors with new pads?

Not always. If the rotors are in good shape, they may not need replacing. We measure them and tell you what we see.

Is it safe to drive with the ABS light on?

Your regular brakes usually still work, but the anti-lock system may not. Get it checked soon, and drive carefully in the rain.
