Finding your tire size

Your size is printed on the sidewall of the tire, something like 225/65R17. It's also on a sticker inside the driver's door jamb. Read it off to us when you call (504) 737-4096, along with your year, make and model, and we'll go from there. If you're not sure, just bring the car by and we'll look.

Mounting and balancing

New tires get mounted on your wheels and balanced so the car drives smooth. A tire that's out of balance can make the steering wheel shake at highway speed, usually somewhere around 55 to 70 mph. If you feel that on the Earhart or I-10, a balance is a good place to start.

Tire rotation

Front tires wear differently than rear tires. Rotating them on a regular schedule helps them wear evenly and last longer. Your owner's manual lists how often. A lot of drivers just do it with every other oil change.

When it's time for new tires

  • Tread is worn down to the wear bars, or a penny test shows the top of Lincoln's head
  • Cracks in the sidewall, or bulges and bubbles
  • Uneven wear, like one edge worn bald (that often means you need an alignment too)
  • You've had to patch the same tire more than once

Louisiana rain doesn't leave much room for worn tires. Low tread is a big part of why cars hydroplane on wet roads.

Tire pressure light on?

Check your pressures first. Cooler mornings can drop pressure enough to set the light. If the light stays on after you fill them to the number on the door sticker, or one tire keeps losing air, bring it by and we'll check it out.

Questions we get

Do you sell tires?

Yes. Call us with your tire size and vehicle, and we'll tell you what we can get and when it can be installed.

Do I need an alignment with new tires?

Not always, but it's a good idea if your old tires wore unevenly or the car pulls. An alignment helps the new set wear evenly. We can check it while the car is here.

How often should tires be rotated?

Follow your owner's manual. Many drivers rotate every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, which lines up with a lot of oil change schedules.
